Political Advisor and former UK Ambassador, NATO
Catherine Royle served as a British diplomat for 28 years before joining NATO as Political Adviser to the Commander at Brunssum - NATO’s operational HQ responsible for deterrence and defense in the North-east of Europe, and for the NATO operation in Afghanistan. Her diplomatic career included 3 tours in South America, including as UK Ambassador to Venezuela. She was Policy Adviser to Peter Hain during negotiations on the Future of Europe that resulted in the Lisbon Treaty. Her last posting was in Afghanistan - as Deputy Ambassador and then heading up an international organization in support of the Afghan Police. She has two surprisingly well-adjusted sons.
